The White Privilege Awareness Project team would like to thank everyone that helped make the Understanding Whiteness, Recognizing Privilege Conference held at Mount Holyoke College on April 17th, 2004 a great success. The three keynote speakers Enoch Page, Tim Wise, and Becky Thompson covered a range of topics and presented their information in completely different, yet complimentary styles. The first and second workshop sessions each offered 10 workshops for people to choose from.

Attendance reached around 300, with conference participants coming from all over Massachusetts, as well as New York and Connecticut. The feedback on the conference has been overwhelmingly positive and plans to have the next one in 2006 have already begun.

Thank you, Kyra Zola Norsigian (Conference Organizer)

The conference is quickly approaching. Final changes to the schedule are being made and we hope everybody i excited to spend saturday talking about white privilege. One note to those relying on public transportation to the conference: The PVTA does not run early enough to get people to Mount Holyoke in time for the start of the conference. Please try to find an alternative to the PVTA for your transportation to the conference. If you carpool with other people from your area/school there will still be plenty of space to park. We look forward to seeing you there. Directions, maps and other logistical information is here...

Registration for the conference on the 17th is going strong. We have added a resources section to the site to get your gears turning on some of these issues that we will be discussing. We have been updating the schedule, lecture and workshop descriptions, and presenter bios as they come in. We will be updating more of the logistics as soon as we finalize information. And don't be afraid to make a donation to help cover the costs for the conference.
